v tec undercover

ok so my buddy has a d16y7 motor that was rebuild but has a diffrent cover on it and it has signs as v tec like the plugs in the front how can i honestly tell if its a v tec motor ? let me know guys thanks

look for a vtec solenoid

Also the stamp on the block could help. And if im not mistaken, heads have a certain stamp on the side of the head.

Early d16z6 engines didnt have a vtec valve cover.

SOHC VTEC valve covers came in 94-95 Vtec SOHC Civics. 92-93 SOHC Vtecs had the H on it originally it. just had the H on it.

ok i got it it was a tec motor thanks guy also here is a stuiped question is this how to set up the vac lines from the vac block

Well it's a D16Y7...

96+ engines all have the spark plug holes on the exhaust side and will fit VTEC and 96+ non VTEC valve covers. That doesn't make them VTEC.

yah it wasnt a v tec i looked it over first hand and it wasnt but its still a good motor
