#290830 ok so my buddy has a d16y7 motor that was rebuild but has a diffrent cover on it and it has signs as v tec like the plugs in the front how can i honestly tell if its a v tec motor ? let me know guys thanks

#290837 Also the stamp on the block could help. And if im not mistaken, heads have a certain stamp on the side of the head.

SOHC VTEC valve covers came in 94-95 Vtec SOHC Civics. 92-93 SOHC Vtecs had the H on it originally it. just had the H on it.

96+ engines all have the spark plug holes on the exhaust side and will fit VTEC and 96+ non VTEC valve covers. That doesn't make them VTEC.
