The gap size is .044
Just not too sure if the plugs are good to go
Edit: .044 and those plugs are fine
Glad i replaced em too

I'm going to get a jdm d15b and before i put in the car was going to put new gaskets, seals and what not...I want to purchase ARP head stud kit but which do i purchase the one for a d16z6, b7, or z1? because i know its sort of like a z1 block and a z6 head...idk help is appreciated just thought id post here since there is already a thread about the d15b

You will need to use the headstuds for the Z6

I like to add that the JDM d15b non-vtec has a slightly higher redline (7200rpms) than the usdm d15b's.

Along time ago I posted on this topic with some questions on the D15B 3 stage Vtec I bought. Since then I have come to truly love this engine. I am at the point of wanting to do a complete rebuild on it and potentialyy bore it a little bit.
There are a few good stickies and posts around the site here. However none really state if anyone has actually built one of these engines, Rather just simple external parts replacements. Is there anyone that knows a place to purchase Internals for these engines. I ahve looked at usual places like summit and jeggs but nothing was to be found

broken - you're going to want to find compatibilities between that engine and the more common USDM engines and then use aftermarket parts made for those. It's a 1.5 liter block with a head similar to the Y5 except for the unique cam and valvetrain. The Y5 head is very similar to the Y8.
I bet Bisi would do a cam regrind for you and I'm sure you could find some high compression pistons for it.
To answer your two year old question of how to run it without engine management, I'd run ignition power to the VTEC-E solenoid effectively locking it into 16v mode, then run the VTEC solenoid to the ECU as normal.
A P28 will run the engine okay, but it will idle a little weird in my experience. It's far from ideal. The P28 was tuned for the Z6 head and intake manifold design which is VERY different than the OBD2 D series head design. The OBD2 D series is more efficient requiring less ignition timing advance, has different combustion chamber swirl and quench characteristics, and was designed for more low end drivability at the expense of top end. They have a different timing strategy utilizing a CKF sensor on the crank pulley to watch for detonation.
I'd recommend an OBD1 to OBD2 jumper harness and running the Y5 or Y8 ECU. With the Y5 ECU obviously you'd lose VTEC but it would run fine until you could track down the proper P2J ECU. With the Y8 you'd lock it into 16v mode as I mentioned earlier.

Hey Super. Thank you for the info. I have had the engine running with Vtec on my stock P28. And I seriously fell in love with the engine. I actually enjoyed it more then my D16Z6. I did not know anything about timing or crank sensor you are speaking of. Though I believe my car has an OBD2 harness cause it does have a knock sensor wired in factory and I have a location on the block for it. I have of coarse been running the D16Z6 intake on it.
My issues now are that the bottom end of the motor went. Spun the Main bearings and destroyed the end of the crankshaft again I want to do a complete rebuild on it but all the parts I am finding through the links everyone has posted is For building a motor for boost. I dont want to boost my car. I dont drag race and I dont race people on the street. The plans are to road race the car and I would love to stay N/A.

hey i know this is super old but is the d15b and d15b7 block similar enough that i could swap one for the other as long as i swap the internals as well?

totally helpful post! I saw an ad post though that sells a 92 eg with a transplanted d15b engine Dual v-tec. I'm only familiar with the 3 stage and the jdm d15b. Is that engine any different? I'm from the Philippines by the way. Thank you!

in theory yes
the rods, pistons and crank are all unique to that engine so switching blocks shouldn't be a problem.
what is the issue with the d15b block?
I am not 100% sure on deck height and main crank diameter being the same between the two
go buy some cheap calipers and do some measuring if you have both cranks and blocks.
Vebinua-
they most likely mean the 3 stage v-tec as it really only has two stages that v-tec are activated
somewhere on here i have a motor build post

The internal swap of a d15b and b7 will work for sure. I have done it. Did anyone have any luck with a high compression build on the d15b. I'm trying to get a 11:1 Cr and use the 3-stage head utilizing the lean burn with tuning for MPG's. I have a Vitara built 3-stage vtec motor that I put in an integra and drove all year. I recently pulled it and am swapping it into a rt-4wd wagon. Here is what I was thinking since everyone is saying the Z6 pistons will hit the head. I want to use the fplowing combo:
D15b7 bare block
d15b crank
D16z6 rods
Edit: D16y8 pistons (29.4 vs the z6 30mm) PMS GX pistons (27mm)
3-stage head
Z6 Head gasket
Here is what zeal says about it.
11:1 build
The #MPGSOHC build
Pegged at 18:1 AFR's
Made 220 whp top so it was a pretty fun and efficient build. Got 40 MPG's. I'm re-doing the entire build. The goal is a solid 55 MPG's.
I am in the market for a 3-stage head if anyone knows someone with one... Please Help me find one. haha
