i have a d15b7 that im gettin ready 2 do a mini-swap to. i heard i can use the stock ecu for the swap just i'd have to hook up a v-tec controller or run it to a switch. and i can use the d15b7 timing belt is this true?
also i heard if i port/box out, i think its the intake manifold. and put a upgraded cam on it it'll make the v-tec hit harder. is any of this true? and what other things will help the vtec hit harder?

bad idea, get a p28. a vtec controller will not have the proper fuel curves like the p28 would.
porting the IM will not make vtec 'hit harder', but if done correctly can help air flow.
A cam will always help. A sohc vtec will never 'hit as hard' as a dohc.
You might want to test fit with your old d15b7 timing belt, but I believe the timing belt should match the head you are using.

the d15b7 valve dover does not fit the y8 head. I used y8 plug wires, if I recall, the d15b7 plug wires didnt fit right.

no, usually when you buy a used head it will already have a vtec solenoid on it.

I am on my to doing the mini me swap d15b7 to d16y8! Most of the parts are on te way and i'm ready to go!! Question, Wil my exhaust headers for my d15b7 fit my d16y8 head?? Also porting polishing and milling the new head, what would be possible gains? Whats your take on it thanks.

header will bolt right up. and, the head will flow better, allowing it to make better power

The covers bolts for the VTEC Style Valve Covers(D16z6, D15z1, D16y5,d16y7 and d16y8) all have different connection hardware, They bolts are pressed into rubber grommets which are pressed into the valve cover.
You can use a D15b7 intake manifold, However using a d16z6 or d16y8 intake manifold will allow in more air and flow better making more power.
What Gains will be had from Port and Polishing? Totally depends on how well they are done.
