To be fair, that's 1729 injuries in the span of 2003 to 2014. That's about 157 a year. Including ONE death in that 11 years.

That's really not a lot in the grand scheme of it all.

And working for Honda during 4 of those years, they were pretty on top of taking care of recalls and reporting them to customers. The service advisors ran recall checks on the VIN of every car that came through and brought them to the attention of the customers.

It was the manner in which they (Honda) reported them to the NHTSA that got them fined.

And it's technically not a record, since it's two $35M fines stacked.
