Oxidizing technologies such as nitrous oxide injection systems provide improved power, but are not a form of forced induction.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forced_induction

The intake charge isn't supercharged. It's atmospheric with an assload more oxygen.

If or if not Nitrous is "Forced Induction" depends on your definition. Nitrous performs the same actions of a Super/Turbo Charger, and Adds more Oxygen(Cool Air compared to Super/Turbo Chargered Setups and Nitrogen to Help cool the Cylinder's) and Fuel(if a Wet kit) Before the Throttle body(Unless your going with Direct Port Nitrous Setup).

In my books I would call Nitrous Forced Induction, You have to arm, and activate your nitrous system to "Force"(or Release) the Nitrous Oxide and Fuel into your Intake Tubing/Manifold.

Plus calling Nitrous N/A isn't fair to the N/A guys who work much harder to produce their numbers.

If your to lazy to read that(which you should do right after reading this post) Here is what you need to do. When you buy a Kit make sure you Run a WET Nitrous Kit. Makes tuning so much easier

I Started out at a 50shot, Then Bumped upto a 75shot, and am now Running custom Nozzles. I recommend starting low shots and make your way up. The only down side I have had so far is my OEM clutch took a DUMP after spraying the bottle. You will want to get a Stage 2-3 Racing clutch if your going to be spraying alot.

- Run 1 Size larger Fuel Nozzle(to be on the safe side of detonation)
- Back your distributor all the back.
- Make a quick Nitrous Run(I ran a 1-2 Gear pull spraying)
- Check plugs, CHECK ALL THE PLUGS, They should all be wet as your Running Rich.
- Make another quick Nitrous Run(I ran a 1-2 Gear pull spraying)
- Check all plugs again. Repeat this Step until you see a "Peppering" on your plugs. Back the Distributor back a degree.

I did Exactly what I described above, I got the Advice from the Honda-Tech Article I linked to. I have ran through to many bottles to count. When I spray I Run 92/93 Octane with a full bottle of Octane Booster from Walmart dumped in my tank.

Now that you have read this go read through all 59pages of the official nitrous thread. you will have a real good understanding of Nitrous then, Before I read it I was a Nitrous Noob.

im a little confused in step 2 you say to put the dizzy all the way back, yet in step 6 you say if you see peppering to back it off another degree? if its backed up all the way how can you back it off more?

Lol, I forgot to add a step, after you make a run and see the plugs are "wet" then you advance your timing a hair, after maker another test run and check the plugs agian. Do this until you get peppering on your plugs.

I don't call it NA. That's also retarded. :)

I call it a power adder.

#88352 A nitrous motor is naturally aspirated with a chemical enhancer.

It's not just plain forced induction or N/A at all, it doesn't fit into either category.

#98262 im going to be running nos in my d serise i will be running a dry kit 50 shot as far down the intake pipe pissable to give it time to atomize.

im running dry as are manifolds are not made for a wet kit and unless direct port it wont be as effecent. i will not go any more then a 50 shot with this i should be able to fit a vaccum set up and throttle position :)

this is what i have researched and want to try ti see if tis right for me :)

what about if you have a timing light? i just got a zex dry kit and set it up for the 55 shot, 0 degrees retarded timing (currently) and NGK 7's... (2 step colder)

is there any special "sweet spot" with regards to the timing or is it just trial and error?

The sweet spot for a Nitrous Nozzle would be 3" from the Intake Manifold Butterfly Valve.

I just did mine with trail and error. I didn't have a timing gun to figure out what my timing was so :?

The Distributor was in the middle and retarded from OEM. I have a Timing light now, however have Rebuilt then engine Since then. Even if I still had the old D16z6 I sold the car it was in.

I forgot to Mention that you should run 1 stage cooler of a Spark plug when Spraying.

I have a D16z6, Running Custom Shot of Nitrous. I wont give more details then that.

I am the Fastest Single cam locally. I beat up on LS/Vtec's, B20vtecs, h22's and a few K's. When I pop the hood they cant believe theres only a Single cam. However, I have been beaten by Turbo B and H Blocks. Never Raced a Turbo K, I have been put back into my Place by a few NA K20's though. Every Turbo D I have Raced I have won.

generally what would it cost to fill a 10lb bottle of nitrous.

Generally 6.99/lb. sooooo 6.99 x 10lb bottle = 69.99.. lol

#196510 Wat do you guys think about the ZEX nitrous systems and maybe their Blackout system?
User avatar
By forcefedEG
#196511 way to bump an old thread :eh:

but anyway.... ive been around there dry and wet kits, personally i like them both and i think there the best imo... :thumb:
By hondatuner208
#196512 Sorry about the bump i didn't know :?

But i wanted to buy a wet ZEX system for my d-series too but don't know if its safe to run it with some ITBs as well

#196513 never seen anyone run one on a itb setup, but i havent been around any itb setups really.... but i can say there kits are way high quality :thumb: and i like the smart box setup 8)

and its ok, just look at the date on a theard, for that matter dont hesitate to start your own.... :thumb:
By hondatuner208
#196516 Yep hopefully it works cause i'm gonna get the Vitara pistons to lower compression and get it low as possible for the ITBs and nitrous. Would there be a way to have the nozzle spray into the throttle bodies when i step on the gas so it sprays inside while it opens?
