- Tue Jan 03, 2012 11:39 am #288293 I thought it might be a nice idea to copy my project topic to this forum too, so this is it. Don´t mind the timeline, it doesn´t always match.

I bought my first car, this EG8 DXi in 2009.







I bought some ignition parts and changed the spark plugs, ignition cap and rotor etc. The result was a total spark loss Ignition coil was blown.

After changing the coil, i bought some audio parts.



- Pioneer DEH-P8100BT
- Pioneer TS-E170CI

I did the adapters from the 10mm plywood.





Then something minor fixes:

I removed the horrible green tapings. They were cutted to the shape _after_ installing them. So the cars paint had nasty cut markings


Then i installed the aftermarket central locking system by SteelMate.

Now i made some bad repair work, cause i was told by some wnb mechanics and painters that "when you do it like this, it will work"

I was told the i should weld the new piece to it in two pieces and that i should spray the 1-component Zinc-paint first and use the putty in top of it.

Well... That doesnt work cause the putty will cause the Zing to boil...





When i realized these problems. I gave up and drove the whole winter in just like this:



I knew that in spring 2010 i have to start it all over again.


In spring 2010 i made the decision that i wanna keep this car and really start this project.

Then i thought that when the carpet was off, i could change the color of it and also use Silent Coat sound dampening mat to reduct road noices.

I also took the towing hook of. I dont need it.





Then i bought DevilBiss FLG-5 spray gun...

Then my army service begun and there was 9 months of nothing done to the car. (Served as Finnish Military Police SharpShooter)

After getting free project continued:





The interior was horrible in grey, so i had to star the interior color swap.

I used VHT Vinyl Dye. Color was Satin Black.

Then i wanted to get rid of the manual windows. So i started the manual to power windows/mirrors swap:

Then was time to try some SuperBlack. I have never painted anything with spray gun before this project.













I bought the JDM Optional Arm Rest, and fixed the scratches. I sprayed it with vinyl dye.















Then was time to buy a new player: Kenwood KIV-700

The whole distance between player and speakers is 2,5mm2 cable. The original cables are not used.

Car is dirty and the bumber is just painted so it looks like if had some differences in painting color.

I had to make custom 4D adapters to these mirrors.
I started by doing the inside plates:





The screws taken from the original mirrors





Then i took the base plates that camed with the CF mirrors, and used their shape to make a good fitting adapters.

Digital Timing Adjustements:

- 7 Inch 800 x 480 resolution display, with Ebay touch screen panel and controller. Also changed the display controller to better, so it handles VGA instead of just Composite.

I decided that i will have a B18C Spec R engine swap, so i started it with making the chassis better. EG6/EG9 brakes etc.

Some parts bought:

- EG6 rear brakes
- 24mm ITR front swaybar
- A Spec Racing End Link Set
- A Spec Racing Subframe Reinforcement Brace
- Skunk2 Pro Series Camber Kit Rear
- A Spec Racing Rear Sway Bar 24mm

Still need the handbrake cables and TEGIWA or Function 7 LCA:s to get the rear end finished.



Somebody in the Finnish forum dynamiitti.com told that the Skunk2 camber kit is installed upside down in this picture, i dont know, it looked silly this way, but i copied the installation from the original part.



Now (3.1.2012 )its installed the other way. The later pics are with the "wrong" "old" installation.
