I have a few q's ..i have a stock b20b and i am going to turbo it..first time doin this..what should i do to the engine before i go turbo without changing internals? new oil pump? Gaskets? water pump? also i know im going to need to get it tuned so what computers can i use? Can i get my ecu chipped or will i need to go and waste the bigger bucks on something like hondata? Thanks

I don't think its is possible to waste money on a tuning system. You pay for what you get.

I suppose the only waste is if you went extra cheap and your motor exploded :(

Wasting money would be boosting a b20, the sleeves will explode. find a junkyard b18 and build it. talk to some local tuners and see what they tune with, if you can just get someone to chip it and tune with crome or something it would be pretty pointless to have paid all that money for some kind of computer you wont personally tune with, but thatsjust a thought...

I dont want to boost the crap out of it..just want to put like 5-8 pounds on a small turbo...

just run an adjustable boost referenced fuel pressure regulator, run low psi and run high octane to have less a chance of detonating, a wideband wouldnt hurt, you could see if it goes too lean, a chipped ecu can be had from a dyno tuner or speed shop. try http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com watch out, nothing about that site is safe for work

Yeah I heard B20s have eggshell sleeves.

As in, no matter what power you're pushing detonation might crack them.

I dunno about your opinions on a boosting a b20 but this one from our meet last year was pretty nice

If its done right you can make it work

This misconception about what sleves are weak and what power numbers cause what need to stop. ANY ENGINE CAN PUT DOWN RIDICULOUS POWER WHEN PROPERLY TUNED. I have personally been involved in a b20 turbo build where the motor was completely stock except for head studs, head gasket and rod bolts, and pushed 275 whp after 3 trips to the dyno. That motor, turbo, and car are still on the road today.

X2 on the wideband.

exesive cylinder pressure combined with detonation will cause ANY motor to blow. Even on a fully built racecar.

Know your engines limits. you need a dyno.

also, hondata is the shit.
