T3 Turbo Users, Spool Speed Question.

I am thinking of biting the bullet and Turbo Charging my EK hatch. Infact I am pretty sure that I will be parting together a kit and boosting my B16 instead of making a Juiced High Comp LS/V.

I Don't plan on going over 300hp. I don't really want more then 250. So a T3 should work out fine. My Main Questions are at this time how your spool times are.

My Questions for T3 Turbo Users is how is your spool time? And What is Your Trim Size?

If anyone has recommendations for a different Turbo for my Goals, I would appreciate that as well.

if this other kit works out like it should, i might have a practically brand new Evo VIII 16g and a never used custom mani sittin as fancy paper weights....

its quite a bit smaller than the ebay t3/t4 i had, its a twin scroll which makes it spool even faster, and it can boost up to 26psi no problem.

dont really plan on making a "for sale" thread for it but, if you were interested, i'd let it go for what i have into it... 8)

EDIT: sorry, i dont have any T3 spool info though

my t3 is .48 on the hot side, .60 compressor. The exhaust housing is from a super 60 with a stage 1 turbine. It is a mutt built from 2 different garrett t3 turbos

It starts spooling around 3k rpm, fully spooled before 4k, tires usually broken loose by 5k

this is on a sohc though

I'm glad it does not spool any earlier because I'm able to drive on the highway at around 3k rpm and I'm not spooling yet and dumping fuel into the motor. Boosting has hardly effected my highway MPG. :woot:

If you decide to let her go, PM me a Price. Defentally Interested. If it takes you a while to decide that still works for me. I wont be piecing a kit together overnight or anything.

_____

Thanks for that info Teal. That wouldn't be a bad setup, Well Except for tires breaking loose, I want my power to be connecting to the ground.

My b16 gets between 22mpg and 25mpg on normal driving. My Fuel Econemy wont be good anyway I splice it after boosting. Doesn't matter much as This is my Secondary Toy Car.

If anyone else has T3 Input I would love to read it.

your b16 should have typical spool as a d16 does, i have a t3/t4 hybrid .63 .48 "44 trim" e-bay special and i hit 1-2lbs of boost by 2500rpm and full boost by 3500 and pulls hard, breaks the tires loose at 5k :D

i'm hopin the LS will spool this t3/t4 50 trim fairly quickly... cause i'll be runnin out of rpm's fairly quickly....

I have been looking at those kits and been mighty tempted. With your input on them, I am even more tempted. I was afraid of the spool times on those big turbos. Doesn't seam to be as bad as I thought it would be.

 That you will, If BlackSilo can spool a smaller turbo quickly on his D16z6, Your LS should do good.

If your not in full boost long enough for you, Thats all the more Reason to go LS/V. :hehe:

they say if you get the ebay turbo's balanced before you start using them then they will last a lot longer.

Balancing is cheap, $25/wheel around here
