Take a look at the schematic on the Haynes book on page 12-25.
The steering wheel controls for your CC can be separated with some close attention to the wires. The system runs on a ground system. Your CC switch that is on your dash would still activate the system .

You will have to pull apart the factory steering wheel and remove the controls for a visual. The routing of the harness is through (data link cable looking harness under the steering column. To be short , the GRAY Cable reel. That wire harness then converts to your standard harness.
You have to pin out the THREE control wires the run your switches.
COLORS , LT GRN_RED
LT GRN-BLK
BLU-GRN

Then you can mount the controls some where else or If you are good with soldering and buttons . You could make you own. Just need ground.

I've done this to my old sedan and my friends S2K it works perfect. However, I don't like where they installed the buttons. I installed mine to a blank switch spot on the dashboard itself next to the cruise control button.
