be kind this is my first DIY

ok so i bought this MOMO steering wheel a couple years ago when i was driving my CRX and never got around to putting in in there...because i never fixed the steering wheel.
so i bought the steering wheel at a junk yard for $5...and as far as i know its like a $300 steering wheel

sorry i dont have any pictures of the steering wheel before i started but belive me when i say it looked like a dog got to it.

*when sanding or staining all ways go with the grain*

but what i started with is some 80 grit to get all the old crap off (this is the time consuming part, i spent about 4 hours getting off the old and getting rid of the pitting) then i moved to 120, then 240, and finally 400 grit to get it to look like this and felt like glass

so i went to lowes (military discount) and got some supplies

this point you can stain it or just put a clear coat on it
i went with a wipe on clear poly just to make it easier but you can use what ever kind of clear that you want.

and got some 400 grit wet sandpaper, and sanded between each coat of clear...

and after about 5 coats it was pretty much what i wanted for the wood

it looks better in the sunlight than under home lights

the next step is to get some leather restorer and do the center piece

thanks for reading and good luck with your's :thumb:
