- Wed Feb 11, 2009 4:31 am #95626 really think i already know the answer to this but it came to me awhile back.....would it be possible to interchange some of the gears from a D series trans/ transplant some lets say 3rd gear into a b series?

- Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:32 am #95640 well i have a spare z6 trans and the gsr trans i am getting i dont knwo truely the condition of the gears and if it dose work it would eb a simple solution to having to run out and buy brand new though i dont really know how much they are new either so it may be cheaper going that route

This is why:

Full Picture (1920x1600)
As you can see the internals are different sizes.

Even if they where not different sizes the Ratios would be different, Therefore not being a good solution.

I was 99.9%sure it wouldn't work, However wanted to open up the repair manuals side by side to make sure for the extra .1%, As well as prove from the book it cant be done.
