#317049 I'm looking for opinions here.

i'm wondering if its worth while doing a LX to CX trans swap. i do a bunch of city driving but tend to stay in 4 or 5th gear most of the time.

but my main concern is on the highway at 70-75mph i'm in the 3k range and eating gas. i can get a CX trans with start for $50ish and will install it myself.

the question is, is it worth it for 500-600rpm?

#317052 If you can get it for $50 and know how to do it yourself, I think it's worth it. What I would do is test separately. Drive 70-75 mph on yours and check gas mileage after the highway drive from start to end. If you can find someone to do the same with the CX, that works too. From there, it's all calculations! In general, 500-600 rpms less is always better!

theres the catch. the CX/VX was HB and i'm running the sedan so our fuel mileage will always be different.
the LX and DX are the same gear ratio
aswell the CX was the 70hp D15 and the DX/LX had the 102hp D15

those are the OE numbers for: --------- HB CX --- HB DX ---- 4dr LX
Fuel Economy (MPG) (city/highway) --- 40 / 45 -- 34 / 40 -- 34 / 40

#317064 Do it by percentage.
Since those are the OE numbers for: --------- HB CX --- HB DX ---- 4dr LX
Fuel Economy (MPG) (city/highway) --- 40 / 45 -- 34 / 40 -- 34 / 40

You can assume 40/45 from the HB CX and the 34/40 from the 4dr LX are 100%

I hope I'm thinking this the correct way. Percentages always work a lot better in finding out if something is better or not

#317068 I have a cx trans. I want better gearing for better acelleration. If your trans will do that we can do a even trade

#317081 I run 65-80 on the highway. I run a full tank for 3+ weeks. Driving about 15-60 miles a day.

For fuel economy it rules! But has no ass, so be ready for that.
