#291025 Hi guys, i'v got a b18c6 in my 'teg, currently with an S80 box. Are there any direct swaps i can do for better acceleration?

I know the jdm 96 spec and ek9 box is a good swap as they are slightly shorter but will anything else work? Eg6 SiR maybe? obviously it needs to have a diff.

#291080 any hydro B series tranny will work (92-00 Civics with B's and all 94-01 Integras)

'98 ITR has the shortest gears of all of them

really? I thought the B16a SiR and B16B CTR had the shorter gearing?

#291647 ^^ hmm.. I'm pretty sure the 98 ITR is shorter than the SiR B16's cause i think they have the 4.4 final. If the CTR is B16 gears with a 4.785 like the ITR, it would be the shortest

#293864 98spec ITR has the shortest....due to the high 4.785 final drive as opposed to the other hydro gearboxes which has 4.4

#293866 If you want to build a custom gear box, the 97-01 CR-V Has a 4.562 final drive.

If your not afraid of opening up a Transmission, the least expensive way to make a "Go Fast" transmission would be getting a 94-01 Integra LS Transmission and a 97-01 CR-V Tranmission. All of the CR-V gears are shorter then the Integra LS gears as they have to move a 3000lb suv, shorter gears make that happen easier.

As you can not just bolt a CR-V Tranny in with out a Custom mount and swapped to cable linkage, If you take the CR-V 1-5 Gears and final drive and put them in a LS Transmission you would have a beast tranny. The effect of this would give you shorter gearing then a B16 Transmission due to the better final drive. Even better if you have a 99-00 EM1 tranny which has a 4.2 final drive. The only transmission with a shorter ratio is the ITR.

The beuty of this setup is it can be done very cheap if you source junkyard tranny's. the 5speed CR-V Trannys are hard to find, but source one and you can have a shorter then b16 tranny for the cheap. If you wanted to you could even keep the LS 5th gear for better freeway cruising.

97-01 CR-V 5speed ratios:
1st 3.5
2nd 1.956
3rd 1.344
4th 1.071
5th .812
final 4.562

delsol VTEC Ratios:
1st 3.23
2nd 1.105
3rd 1.458
4th 1.107
5th .848
Final 4.4

Plug the ratios into the Transmission calculator and see for your self:

#294062 crv is geard so low because it calls for alot bigger tire. a friend of mine has a awd civic with a b20 trans and its shortest trans ive seen for a honda when you use small tires.

my b16 trans at 80mph is around 4500rpm so mpg on highway suck

if i were to build a trans for the op i would get a b16 trans, lsd, carbon coat syncs, and throw a ls 5th gear in there if its a daily

and im pretty sure the usdm itr has 4.4 final only the jdm itr has the 4.7 from my understanding. and im pretty sure the b16 has same gear ratios as usdm itr just a smaller diff
