my trans has been making a low whine/growl noise for about 2 weeks and keeps getting louder. i got my car up on the lift today and couldnt find the noise, had the wheels off the ground and had it in 2nd gear. no noise. found the noise is only noticable when the weight of the car is on it. i did find out my p.s. axle has about a 1/4 inch of movement at the trans, not in/out movement but up and down. a buddy of mine said it could be an output shaft bearing but i can not find such a bearing. 
is it a bearing or my diff in the trans? it is a sohc btw. the noise started on my way home from my first time at the track. any ideas where to get the bearing if it is a bearing?
