#241718 i cant remember where i posted my last thread asking about slop in my shifting linkage.

...but, i finally crawled under my car yesterday. everything seems pretty good...bushings front and back for the support bar... seemed to be somewhat tight where the joint is going into the trans.

but my rubber boots for the shifter need to be replaced. and...theres a big gap between where the shifter bolts to the shift linkage and i can actually rotate the shifter a little bit clockwise and counter clockwise. and theres like an 1/8" or more gap between the tabs on each side of the shift linkage and the shifter itself. should have taken pics...

but what i'm asking.... if i buy a new shifter will i still have rotating slop? or will i need to throw some washers on each side? or just replace the linkage too?

hope my explanation doesn't through anybody off...
