I am looking at trading my 1995 civic lx 4dr to a guy for a hatch. My car has a clean title but the hatch has either a rebuilt, or a salvage title. I checked with one of the free vin check and it said it was in the vincheck salvage list but he is saying it is a rebuilt title. Thus making me weary of if i should trade it or not. What are your guys expirience with rebuilt or salvage titles? Also if anyone wants to trade their hatch for my sedan im in miami florida!

Well clean titles have more value...as far as salvage title goes if it was in an accident there are high possibilities that it could have a bent or damaged frame you should check it out first see how it feels
i would trade if it was just theft related

a good way to test if it has a bent frame is to drive down a dirt load and a low speed then check your tracks and make sure the tracks are aligned if they are not the frame is most likely bent.

Rebuilt = Salvaged
Call and ask your insurance company.

I've never experience this but i can tell you this; If I were you, I wouldn't think about it. It's better to deal with clean titles than deal with theft titles and salvage titles. That's my opinion.

The "problem" with a Rebuilt/Salvage title is that if you want to trade the car in to a car lot, they don't want it. A bank will not loan full value on a branded title, so financing is tough.
That can also be a problem when you try to sell the car. If someone can not finance the car, it is basically not worth as much as a clean titled car.
The best way to get a good value out of a branded title car is to have someone else hit and total you. Then their insurance has to pay replacement value.
