what would be the best way to gut a cat without removing the entire exhaust system and what would be the best thing to use to clean the inside of it

horrible idea...
1. your exhaust is going to sound rhaspy
2. Very little if any performance gain. Look at the in & out of your cat just inside the flanges, there's your bottleneck.
3. Unless you're boosted, some back pressure is good for your motor.

i figured that mabey it was clogged or something, so gutting it would solve that problem

I'd take it off and have a look inside. Take some pics and post them up

First fix the problem that killed your cat converter. Then get a replacement.
A gutted cat sounds and smells really bad. Don't be the stereotypical ricer.

a bad o2 sensor can destroy a catilytic converter without ever throwing a code.

absolutely.
its job is to burn any unburned gas that goes out the exhaust valve.
the more unburnt fuel (rich) there is, the more work it does, and uses it up faster.

Everyones telling u that "its bad and don't do it". Man all u need is a pick axe and a broom stick... first use the axe to break the honeycomb wire mesh, then use the stick to break the magnesium that's on the inside... its that easy... but mind u, ur gonna smell gas all the time...DO @ UR OWN RISK!!!
