Civic EG

A while back when I was cleaning the floor, I found this near the front drivers corner of the car.

Right away I was like "I swear I installed the woodruff key on the crank pulley" And I looked... the woodruff key was installed, this was actually smaller, but similar shape. also this is very magnetic.

here it is next to the installed woodruff key.

and here it is on a wheel stud, to give you an idea of how small it is.

I have no clue where it could be from, but I'm pretty sure it fell off my civic at some point.
any ideas

I have a SOHC, any idea on where it would go on the cam gear?

Makes since, It was on the floor in about the area below the cam gear.

theres a slot when you take off your cam gear on the cam shaft you will see it and it will make sense when you take off the cam gear and look at it

i dont think that looks like the cam gear key...not really sure what it looks like, are you running adjustable cam gears now?

I have the stock D16z6 cam gear.

I never took the cam gear off... I'm not sure how it would have fallen out.

looks like the cam gear thingy to me... when i re-built my head a month or so ago i dropped mine god knows how many times... took me over an hour to find it one time :eh:

maybe the DOHC are different, but my SOHC does not have a key like the crank pulley does. It's built in to the cam gear itself, there's no separate piece.

it's a really strong magnet. for its size, it really sticks to metal! I'm just glad it's not from my Cam gear
