what motor shud i get

well i finalli blew up my motor. so i have tha choice for a d15b or a b20 about 100 price dif, bt if i get tha b20 im gona need everythin 4 a swap, a lil feed back plz

there was a guy wit h a jdm d15b on here some wher and he was ruuning mid to high 14s with some boltons i guess it jus depends on how fast u want it cuz b20s r fast as fuck to



and im a sohc guy so i say d15 :thumb:

what's your budget and plans for the car?
either one come with a trans?

I also be a SOHC guy and gotta say id go with either a D15b or a Z6 or stuff like that since everything is so interchangable ooo wait if you like dohc engines also id see about getting a DOHC ZC lol its still a D but sorta like the black sheep of the D series family lol

my Old Coupe with a D16z6 with I/h/E would smoke B20 swaps all the time. B20's are slow.

The B20 will need a b18b, b18c or B16 Transmission to bolt to, Integra mounts, shift linkage, etc to swap in. It will be alot more work for a slower engine. However It can take a b16 or B18c DOHC Vtec head and go B20vtec and they it will be pretty quick. However you will have to make the bottom end stronger. Even then for the money you spend on your B20vtec the JDM D15b will still smoke you.

If you couldn't tell I highly recommend the JDM D15b, Get the LSD Tranny with it. basic I/H/E and you will beat up on B20 and B18a/b swaps. A little nitrous and you will be beating up LSvtecs and B20vtecs and B16 swaps.

I Speak from Experience. I had a D16z6 with a bottle that took everyone down. :thumb:

ok thanks dat tha kinda stuff i wantd 2 hear, so im better off gettin tha d15b nd gettin sum pistons nd rods, nd shud i leave tha head 4 now???

i bought a tranny a few months ago nd just had it sittin, finalli got it checked nd found out its a single cam SI tranny

yes the d15b vtec is a little beast but..... with my stock ls swap i am yet to get beat by any NA sohc, other ls swap, b16 swap, and a couple untuned ls-vtecs.... dont know if my motor is just a beast, or i'm outdrivin all these fools. my buddy has 15b in that waay light coupe (75 lbs less than my hatch and i weight more than him) he struggles to keep up and he's probly a better driver than i. all these races have went down at the drag strip too.... i've noticed the B16 swaps start to catch me on the top end but not within that quarter!!!
