well i think i may be thinking gsr but i think besides the knock sensor there is another thing not on a ex/si harness that you will need to pin into the ecu as well as i think you may need to move a couple of ecu wires around you may have knock sensor and a good one but just may not be in the right spot.....
also I had this very problem in my Cx even bought a si harness but this was for a 1.6l sohc d and still didnt work right but yea id first check your plug n make sure its on there good and besides that i would probaly just look up pin out diagrams n make sure your getting a connection form the inside of the car (ecu plug to the knock sensor wire. you may be shorting out somewhere....

are you sure a ex harness doesnt have a knock sensor plug cause there is one hanging in the perfect sport that plugs into my knock sensor and the auction on ebay that i bought that harness said it was off a 95 civic ex with v-tec cause i didnt wire in v-tec.

92 to 95 EX, SI civics are vtec but they are obd1 vtec harness which doesn't have knock sensor plug bcus obd1 engines don't need a knock sensor.
So you bought an ex harness which its not going to work.
Am guessing you're using a p28 ecu. So what you do is extend the knock sensor wire through the cars chassis or through that original harness loom all the way to the ecu. You are going to connect the extended knock sensor wire to the number 3 hole on the D plug the connects to the ecu.

Nah bro all plugs should plug in. You would just add wires for the vtec selenoid, oil pressure switch and knock sensor straight to the ecu and that's it.

No bro you don't need to. You better off with this set up. Its just plug and play. No need for wiring.

That harness its gonna cost you a pretty penny. I thought you already had the harness.
If you have bank I say buy the gsr harness but if you in a budget I say just wire it up.
But either way good luck.
