ok, i own a 93 sedan and just bought a 94 cx hatch shell, i plan to drive my sedan while i build up my hatch. obviously im going for a swap but i cant decide if i want a B series or a H, i figured plenty of u guys and gals have seen ur share of swaps and could try and help me. I wanna boost it but im most likely gonna be n/a for a few months at least. so all input is very much appreciated.
your fellow eg whore,
Bruce

B or H, ask yourself if you want VTEC.

But I've been told both engines aren't that brilliant when it comes to boost, IMO B.

wat do u mean do i want vtec? does one kick harder or wat. and i thought b series were like the best for boost ? and to narrow it down further my choices were ctr b16, ls(with vtec head), or h22 from an prelude sh

VTEC doesn't "kick".

Lots of boost works better on a non-VTEC motor. Why not a H23?

Either motor will do the same. It's just your personal preference. Look at the costs and availability. Flip a coin.

There's really not anything to suggest unless you give us some specific goals and tell us how you're going to use the car.

if you go with h22. don't boost it. the walls are to thin to support boost. you will blow it up quicker. h23 with boost would be a better bet.

ok use wise, i only wanna a daily driver that makes about 300 but no more than 400. im friends with a guy that owns a honda shop and can get one motor just as easy as another so availability isnt an issue just me making up my mind is. the only reason i wa thinking of going h series was they have around 200 stock ( correct me if im wrong) and there a bigger bore so it would take less boost and such to make 300. but anyway i wanted the ctr b16 cuz my friend has a genuine one that has about 20k miles on it and he said thats the motor i should go with. but u guys said not 2 mix vtec with boost so now im confused

or better yet should i just get a b16 or and h22 and just stay all motor ? i dont need the boost i just kinda wanted it but if i had a b16 or h22 and took out the seats and etc. then i would still prolly have the fastest import ( that i need anyway ) around were i live

h22 all motor. torque on it is fun. i wouldn't want boost as a DD. i would get stupid with it.

would it be worth the extra money to get a jdm h22 w/ a red valve cover or should i just get the american h22 and spray it crinkle red b4 i drp it in my hatch

your car is obd1 with one o2 sensor. if your gonna get a jdm one, make sure that your gonna get one thats obd1 and with one o2 sensor. some of the jdm ones have two o2.
check out this site for which one.

20hp isn't gonna make that big of deal. the numbers are close enough not to make a difference that you will notice. just get a reg. one and like you mention'd. crinkle it.

theres not really much of a weight issue, it's only 40-60 lbs heavier then a b. im still on stock springs at the moment. i plan to get a little stiffer spring just for the front.
when it's getting installed, they should know when they see two o2 sensors.

sitting on 17s for that pic.
