Anyone know if it differs from the Automatic one? i'm pretty sure it is, but i want to make sure that there is a difference before i pick one up. now i can get one used from a friend for free. Will it be needed for a manual swap? or should i just keep the auto one that i know is good?

you will need a manual starter for a manual transmission :thumb:

you'll also need the lower starter bolt fror a manual transmission, as it is longer than the automatic one. The bolt on the top is the same on manual and autos.

ok cool. just making sure, i use the right one. i was talking to my stepbrother last night who is a mechanic, and told him i found one for free, and he said "why do you need a new one for a manual tranny?"

He may be a mechanic but lives in a Toyota family

The auto starter bolts directly to the bell housing.. the manual bottom bolt bolts through the bell housing into the block hence the need for a much longer bolt. :)
