I was talking with my Boss bout switching to straight synthetic oil (idk which im gonna go with) he said that a few mechanics advised against full switch but more 30/70 mix or something like that.

what are the affects of switching to full synthetic on an engine with 200k and should i switch my tranny to full synthetic MTF ?

Also for though who run it,

Which oil do you prefer?
Which oil filter do you prefer?
Which Tranny Oil do you prefer?

This is my First car so I'm not sure what to run, Ive done many many oil changes with both and all that so i know what im doing im just in the dark about should i change to full synthetic, run a mix, or keep with normal oil ?

Anybody ? id like to know what u guys think

i use normal castrol GTX 15w-40, ryco filter Z79a and all other fluids genuine

i like a mixture full syn seems to thin to me

since i don't run synth i always run cheapo oil.


oil is oil unless synth. 5 or 10w30 depending on weather.

Mobil 1 syn 5w30 after the first 3k mi of breaking in my rebuilt z6. (ran normal for break-in)
Filter Mobil 1 or OEM. As long as it has the silicone valve thingy inside to prevent low oil pressure on starts. Fram does not have this.
Honda MTF for the trans.

I run Mobile 1 Full Syn. 5w30. with a Mobile 1 Filter. Never use anything else. Spend A little bit more, but its worth it to me.

Lucas also has Very good Syn. Oil.
