- Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:06 pm #282496 When I try to start my car it does not crank over unless I pump the gas a little, then the car idles and drives great after it is started, but sometimes once it is started and idling good it will shut off instantly and I will have to restart the car. I am thinking maybe a fuel filter is clogged any ideas?

It might be ur fuel filter/pump but i do suggest a compression test.

wat engine do you have?
