Magnetic drain plug?

I know they are good for your engine, but would you use an unknown ebay branded one?

Also, are the oil sump plugs and gearbox plugs the same size?

I don't really see how it could hurt. I mean I'm sure a name brand one would work better and pull more stuff out, but a knock off wouldn't hurt.

The trans and engine plugs are different

Threads are the same between the oil sump and gearbox drain, but the gearbox plug with have the shorter magnet and the oil sump will have the longer magnet. Not sure why they advertise it as such, but that's what the manufacturers say you should do.

Magnes are magnets. There is no name brand magnet. There are different types of magnets, however. Skunk2, and MFactory use rare-earth magnets. Not sure if the off brand companies do. But with the off brand companies, you have to be careful that the magnet doesn't fall out. Could potentially ruin your day...

i have one of the cheap ones on my car and has gave me no problem some american trucks bring them stock i use 2 run into them all the time wile working at a jiffy lube
