buying a b18b1, couple questions

im paying 400 for it all, the motor, trans, linkage, ecu, axels. whole swap...
its got 153,000 on it, what should i look over, i want to atleast put a new headgasket on it and new rings, but should everything internally be replaced?

If your taking the head off you might as well get a new timing belt and water pump, It will be easier now then if you have to do when its in the car.
As long as everything inside looks good, I wouldn't worry about swapping anything out. Maybe add some beasty cams but if your leaving it stock, as long as it looks good dont worry about it.

yeah the kid got it "totaled" when a 16 year old girl rear ended him in her dadys lexus, 2 days later bought a perfect mint LS/VTEC 95 teg, with a 98 front end.
only reason im worried is i know how the 19 year old kid drives it, internals will probably beat to piss and back

well have you seen the motor run? i wouldnt buy one till i seen it run and not smoke. but 400 bucks aint bad. ls are pretty strong and can with stand the teen abuse.lol but if your not in a rush i would rebuild it. buy a rebuild kit with all your gaskets, bearings, w/pump,dizzy, rings etc. some kits i have seen even have the pistons. take the head in to a shop and do a leak down test, bench it for straitness and clean. ther is so much you can do it just up to what you wanna spend

I wouldnt worry so much about the motor being bad since ls's are everywhere id be more or so worried about the 5spd trans if there are grinds and whatnot in there since if thers grindage then the transmission may be on its way out.....
