When using a universal kit to mount a slim fan to my radiator...
Where are the springs supposed to go?


(The fan will be mounted on the front of the radiator in a push setup.)

they slide on to the straps.

ahhh that might explain something...

The fan I got only came with 3 springs so I figured I wouldn't use them. Just the foam pads on both sides. A couple months later my radiator was leaking right where the top of the fan frame was touching the radiator. Those springs must be to allow the radiator's expansion when hot?
