My battery light has started to come on at any thing under 2000 rpm. I think its the alternator but i'm not sure. I have a 94 LX d15b7 and was wondering if I have to take the drive shaft off to change the alt. like I had to in my 86 si. I did notice a substantial increase in engine noise comeing from my speakers.

Check all your connections to your battery and in the engine bay fuse box. I've had those wires come loose before. If not, I would say it was your alternator. All you have to do is unbolt and unplug wires and rebolt it up.

It's a real pain to get the alternator out. The last time I did it I jacked the car up, removed the alternator bracket, and squeezed it out past the axle.

Yeah mine did that a couple times and it was the wire in the fuse box...The screws in there suck so I changed em and then the last time it was the power wire to the Alt. itself, but thats cause I have a aftermarket power wire with a different connector and it just came loose. Just check all ur wires first then if thats not it, get the Alt. tested...Hope u figure it out!

Yeeaaahhhh!!! er, Uh oh, er, Hmmmm. I checked the fuses, and wiggled the wires around a bit and the light dosen't come on any more (for now). I can still hear some serious whine coming from my speakers that changes with engine rpm. However it could have been doing that for a long time. I turned the stero off (and every thing else) the second the light came on, for fear I was only driving on the battery.

I took out the Alt. and had it tested, It failed big time. Horay! It makes it so much easier to fix somthing when you can find somthing broken. The lady at Shucks also swapped the AEM pulley to the new one for me. I installed it and It works great. The Noise also went away from the stereo! double WOOT! Still have fuel pressure issues I'll deal with that in another thread. Thanks for All the Help!

For any one else replacing their alt. "I jacked the car up" Is very important! When I read this, I thought to my self "hoorayy" I don't have to take the wheels off and remove the axle! I'll just drive it up on my ramps and git er done. Not the case. I removed the alt bracket, and for about 40 mins I tried the "squeezed it past the axle." part unsucessfully.
I thought "damn suspendedhatch is full of crap! their is no way this fits past the axle." So I came in to write a nasty reply, thankfully I read the directions over again and realized the difference between "jacking the car up" and "driving it up on ramps" it's about a half an inch difference. Just enough to "squeeze" past the axle. My feelings of rage turned quickly into humble stupidity. I finnished the install test drove it and ate PIE. Thanks again for the help.
