EG8 engine suddenly shuts off while driving

Haven't posted in a while. I have an EG sedan that still runs on carbs. This morning, while on my way to work, the engine just died, when I release my foot on the gas pedal. Everytime I turn the ignition on, the engine would just die without me stepping on the gas pedal. The engine will not die if I pump the gas pedal. After a while, I turned the engine on again, this time I turned on the airconditioner too, and the engine didn't die. After that, everytime the airconditioner turns to automatic, the engine would die again. Somehow I managed to drive my ride all the way to work. What could be the problem?
