Hi there. I got interested Hondas from owning an EP3 Type R. Now I've sold the EP3 I've decided to build a budget track car. Being a big Honda fan growing up I've always wanted an EG. I've managed to get a rolling EG3 shell fairly cheap. In the pics attached you'll see my very slow progress so far. I've pretty much got it down to its bare shell. I need to replace the rear quarter, lower rocker and cut/weld in a plate behind the drivers seat. Rear quarter panel is on order, lower rocker ill make from sheet metal, same for floor patch plate. Engine wise I plan on looking for a d16 as I'm on a budget. Car will be fully stripped out and I plan on seam welding interior, engine bay etc. I've never had a project car before and I heard these are easy to build and a great car to start with/learn on. So here it is..... any tips would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
You're off to a good start with the metal repairs. I've never seen an EG with such bad rot in the floor area

Thanks. The council love to spray the british roads with salt over the winter. It causes this as you can see. Hopefully the trailing arm mounting is solid. If that's the case then it's just a matter of plating.

You are of to a good start! I know what you mean with the salt, we have the same issue in sweden. :x
Why go with the D16 and not try to find an B16, still a lot cheaper than an integra motor?

I've actually come across a cheap d15b motor. I like the SOHC engine. Very simple yet packs a good punch. The price of B series motors in the UK are starting to catch up to K series prices..
