Sup everyone?? Finally added myself to the site after seeing all the help it could be. I just bought an 93 EX Coupe for $600 (steal) runs a nd drives but it think it may need a motor soon. Its making this kind of a ticking noise that speeds up when i hit the gas. Im only 17 and still learning. Most ppl aroud here are saing it could be lifters. Any help with that? Thnx and hopefully i found the right forum for me and my love for the EG

The ticking could be alot of things. possibly valve tap, maybe slight rod knock. need more info. how many miles? regularly maintained? is it dogged out?

Welcome to the site man. I love that color on coupes. And that tick could be one of the things that Dippin_EG mentioned, or I have noticed too, that if it is low on oil it will tick a little bit.

Thnks feel welcome. It has 250k on the odometer but dont know if its the orginal motor. I barely drive it waitin to get it registered, but after the few times i did it strtd ticking more and more each day i took it aroud the neighborhood. I changed the oil out to royal purple last week. When i took the car out yeterday i ran it for a lil while to see what it would do. I let it warm up and the noise stopped, but the engine light kept coming on. Now when i strt the car back up it back to ticking. Its louder when sitting still as to driving. It progresses more and ticking when im on the gas. Dont know if i should strt looking for a new engine or not. Just dont wanna spend too much on another Z6 when im getting rady to sell this one to get a 5spd ej1

Oh it started after i revved it to 8k lol ive been watching youtube vids and alot of people have done the same thing and ppl are saying its lifters? what u guys think??
