so i hit the freeway with the gas pedal to the floor... changing gears from 1 thru 4th i hav no problem but when changing from 4th to 5th it grinds when i try to put it in gear, this only happens pass 4500 rpms

Snchro into 5th is warn and needs to be replaced. Alternatilitiy you can get a new transmission, Start Double Clutching into 5th, or get a new transmission.

yep, take it from the Tranny Guru :thumb:

Last option is to shift slower so the RPM drops between 4th and 5th. Double clutching is your best bet, double clutch slowly if it's real bad.
