I brought my car to a mechanic because my engine light was on and my car spudders into every gear and in 4th I can hold the gas all the way down and the car goes slower. The mechanic did say it was my ECU. Do you think the ECU could be the problem? When going into 1st it takes a long time before it gets going. I have a swapped D16Z6 Vtec that the mechanic put in, the engine has 54,000 miles. The car when I bought it also had the same engine but had 170,000 miles on it and threw a rod. If I get a new P28 which is my main question can I just hook it right in myself?

I'd check the code and see what the code is:

It could be a hundred things, most of them are a lot more likely and cheaper than the ecu
