Need help prepping for paint

ok so i bought a 95 dx coupe and it is my project car. body is in pretty bad shape has rust in some places and idk what the guy was doing to the rear quarter panels.

which sand paper do i use can i just use one all around?
do i just sand down the rust to where theres no more? or after that i apply bondo/filler?


need help!

i work in a body shop and i would recommend sanding down the rust spots with a grinder first, then sand down with 180 grit, following that by 320, then sanding with 600 grit. if its a big hole i would say to fill it with mesh or weld sheet metal to it then sand it down to where it is smooth and no lines whatsoever. if not stop the sanding at 600 and spray some primer on it. sand that down and get ready to paint. this is just a quick explanation feel free to PM me and ill see what else i can do for you.
