I have personally owned two DSM, various mustangs, and a truck here and there. But I always came back to my civic. Nothing like getting amazing gas mileage not worrying every day about something breaking or it not running right. and the fact you can build something that will run with most anything and still get over 30 mpg daily yeah. Go with the civic. any model you will just have to figure out which model you like best and go from there.

I bought my coupe for 400 bucks, and my JDM Type R motor swap for $2000 and I annihilate DSM's, Scoobies, S/C Cobalts, and can hang decently with Mazda speed 3's. All in a car that's 17 years old and cost me less than 3k to build.
