hello
I installed a PS for my hatch
the PS kit is from a friend who race so he remove his ps last year and stored it in his garage.
So I bought it last month and installed it in my eg.
Now compare to the manual steering, it does provide help in steering but it still hard to steer compare to a PS car.
well I ask honda about this and they told me maybe the Rack and pinion has rust on it so need to be service. so you think this might really be the problem?
by the way I didnt use honda specified PS fluid but Honda told me doesnt matter.

YOu have to use the honda specific fluid. Otherwise it will get messed up. Im not sure why honda told you you didnt need it. Hondas PS fluid is different from all others.

Ditto that. Stay away from that dealership in the future.

or should I use somethig to flush out the old fluid, then use the honda fluid?

IF you havent already damaged it beyond repair, flush it out using REAL honda fluid. it wil be expensive to get that much fluid, but you will need alot.
I work at a Honda dealership. I dont know why they didnt tell you ONLY use HONDA fluid.

How do you know if the PS pump is still working or not?
when the engine is running will see some turbulence inside the ps fluid reservoir?
because mine when look inside the reservoir the ps fluid does not move...

yes, it would damage the pump and possibly the rack.
