- Thu Nov 14, 2013 1:27 am #338815 A subframe is the main structural part of the chassis that the engine & suspension bolts to. The front subframe bolts in, the rear is part of the chassis. A subframe brace is often used on the rear when installing a larger swaybar to prevent subframe tear out from the extra force of the larger swaybar.
