Please correct me of I get this wrong but believe it goes
Eg3 - 1.3 sohc
Eg4 - 1.5/6 sohc
Eg6 - 1.6 dohc
Eg8 - 1.5/6 sohc
Eg9 - 1.6 dohc
Then you have the coupes and crx/delsols
Eg2 - 1.5/6 sohc and 1.6dohc Delsol
Ej1 & Ej2 1.5/6 sohc coupes
Also from the same sort of era you have the DC2 which is the integra which came in 1.6/8 dohc
Hope I didn't miss any.

This said if you read further into you vin number it also tells where your car was built (there was a post for this a while back) and you'll find allot of civics were built in the US and all coupes mine used to have a sticker in the engine bay that said Honda of America
