im not a big fan of top speed i prefer quicker acceleration so would a gearbox from a smaller engined civic fit and would it make any difference to my acceleration which can chuck out a 8 second 0-60 sprint as it is now?

to be honest im quite new to this i think its the d16z6 engine i know its the 1.6 sohc 16v 125 bhp engine and its all standard its a 1994 not sure on the box though. my interior is going to be stripped im going for sharp handling and acceleration as the main objectives.

Your gears are already among the shorter ones, mines has really long gears as its not built for speed, the esi has shorter gears
Stripping it bare will help a lot

your only hope to gain speed quickly wiht that motor is to hybrid your tranny. Search for Transex tranny page and find out what gears to grab from various D series trannies to get a closer ratio.

Tiny wheels will help too!
Might mess up your speedo but small wheels with as low a profile as possible is another way of cheating and getting faster acceleration

try an S20 tranny with LSD. or if you can swing by the philippines, look for a ph12 tranny for the 1.2L engine. shortest stock gear ratios you can find

I personally would not drive arround in a stripped hatch for any reason again. I did for a while and it was supremely crappy. th weight savings isnt worth it to me. Ill keep my carpet, door panels, front and rear seats and rear panels. Ive never had a spare so I dont have that. But its just flat annoying driving arround in my car with no interior. Didnt help me with the speed either. just gave me more headaches.
