So, I filled up my car with gas a few days ago. The pump didn't stop when the tank filled so it spewed out a bit and the fuel gauge is now stuck on full. Is it possible that the float in my tank got pushed up too high and is now stuck? If so, what's the easiest way to unstick it?

I never heard of that happening. Maybe you havent used that much fuel.

Only real way to find out is to drive around a lil or even try disconnecting the whole gauge cluster and then plugging it back in

Ok just had an idea that should work and so you don't just waste gas driving around. Take your whole cluster out which is easy, then take that plastic cover off the cluster, then push the needle down for the gas. Then put everything back together and then fire up your car and see if the needle moves back up. Then you will have your answer cuz the needle will move up if it's filled up or move to where it should, automatically

How many miles have you driven since you filled up?

If it should be OFF of full according to your mileage, pull your back seat and thump on the top of the tank sending unit a few times. That should un-stick the float if it is stuck.

I've driven about 200 miles so I'm pretty sure it would have dropped by now. I've also pulled the gauge cluster and pushed the needle down. It comes right back up. I also tried tapping on the sending unit under the rear seat... no luck. I'm gonna pull the sending unit tomorrow and see if I can figure anything out.

I would try another cluster first.

It could be your fuel level acting up.

Well, I would try another cluster if I had one... Anyways, I figured out the sending unit and float are fine it's just the gauge is screwed up. Guess I need a new one...

it just means that you have unlimited fuel supply. nothing to worry about. just keep driving.

You are not the first one with this problem.

If the case is the same, then you need a new fuel gauge or someone that can handle a soldering-iron, and be very very calm and accurate with it.

There is a coil under that gauge face you see, which actually moves the needle up and down. The two ends of the coil, which is made of one very very thin and fragile copper wire, Sometimes, I don't know how, it brakes /get's itself unattached to where it is supposed to be/ and the result is what you see. So, I am told it is fixable, but I think the best thing is to buy another one.

One more thing that may be the problem is the thing that goes into the fuel tank - it may be stuck! /what a professional and well-written answer/

Yeah, I looked in the tank and the float was fine. When I pulled the cluster, the wire you're talking about had come apart. I could fix it as I am handy with a soldering iron but the wire didn't have enough slack to work with... Just have to track down a new gauge.
