Civic EG

Hi im new to this website and not sure if this is the right section. I have an eg civic and was wondering does anybody know of eg civics being converted to rear wheel drive?

It's a waste of time, money and a civic. If you want RWD why not get a S2k?

Much more worth your time to do the AWD conversion. Not to mention, the parts are already there and available with minimal fabrication.

I was thinking about doing an AWD Swap. you will have to do a some fabrication to get the rear diff to mount in place, You will also have to use either an aftermarket fuel cell, That or a CRV Gas tank.

If you are really thinking about going down this path google search for how to do it. There is a Rally Delsol on Hondatech that converted to AWD, Took tons of pics.



If you want RWD you have 2 basic options.

1) Install then engine to power the Rear Wheels, This is technically a Mid engine setup but probably the better way to go. This will require Huge amounts of fabrication.

2) Install a Fore/Aft engine setup, Similar to a S2k, or a Chevy LS1 engine. Both will have HUGE amounts of fabrication and will cost way to much money.

Both of the above options will take tons of money and time. Thats with you doing it. You can easily buy a S2000 for the amount of money that would be required to this.I cant imagine the car handling that well when done either.

If you want to Drift, Sell your Civic, buy a 240sx.

i have heard of swapping a Honda CRV drive train in a civic.
thought it sounded pretty cool.
although havent seen any proof of it existing.

ive always wanted to do a rear engine setup in a Eg hatch.
jsut trying to fugure out all the kinks about how freakin hard it would be

civics arn't ment for rwd or awd if thay were honda would of made a V-Tec det engine ( turbo ) wich i really think thay should, and start making awd turbo machines " civics " to comp with lancers and imprezas, now that would be cool

there's a video floating around, I think in the drifting section, of a S2k drivetrain in an EG. It shows it drifting around but no close up shots of the fabrication. If you have an endless wallet and/or amazing fab skills, then go for it

couldn't agree more with this man, not only is it a waste of all mentioned above, it's also highly impracticable and the chassis isn't designed for it so it would more then likely handle like a sack of shit, where as the S2K would handle like a dream
