Alright guys and gals, im trying to shave my eninge bay, but I can find any welder who welds with argon. So im not sure how im going to shave my bay. I acctualy had an idea and wanted to know what people on here thought about it.

I was thinking for some of the holes, putting rivets in them, hitting them in a bit with a hammer, and then using a type of body filler over it. What do you guys thing about this? Possible?

Or would it be better for me to just paint the bay how it is, and weld the holes in the future?

Thanks alot...
Derek

when using just filler, if there is a lot of chasis flex the filler could crack. And well I plan on doing some very spirited driving and some auto x with my h22 so body flex is going to be there.

I would definitely weld it all up man, it saves you time and money in the future cause like you said the filler will crack eventually some time. Why not hire a welder for a day? Not somebody who welds but the machinery lol

if you can't get the holes welded then just leave them be open. Open holes will look better than cracked holes due to not welding them in. :thumb:

Yah, I acctualy used liquid metal in a few of the holes, and i just dont like the feeling of it, althouigh I wight just leave a few of them and see how they hold up...As soon as I finish bondoing it, painting it, and get the car on the road, il be sure to let evryone know how it holds up.

Weld the holes up with small pieces of sheet metal to fit the hole then fiiller over them and sand smooth. I work in a body shop so I know what Im doing. Let me know what you decide to do.

Uhh, you don't have to have them welded via gas mig(co2, aargon, 75% Argon 25% co2 mix etc).

You.... that's right YOU, can weld them with a general BS flux-cored mig welder(feeds like a mig welder, the sheilding "gas" is in the wire itself) or even stick weld.

Does it have to be pretty? No. Why you might ask? Because you're going to grind them down and smooth them anyways.

As the others have said, body filler will flex and crack thus looking like peppered dogs ass.
