#328401 When I painted the car I purchased a new bumper from Honda with the color matched licence plate plugs. It looks like I'm missing a bushing of some sort but I don't see it on the illustration. Any help? Thanks

I'm thinking I need #5. Only thing I can see that might have threads in it and a quantity of 2

#328406 yup. #5 is the one that holds the screw in place.

#328407 I think #5 is the metal plate that has the thread that the license plate bolts thread into behind the bumper. I've had those rust away on my 96 and there was no way the plate bolts would stay in the bumper.

im with teal on this one.

ive never ever seen that red thing in your picture before :?

woulda been a much easier alternative to shaving the plate holes on my coupes bumper last year. not that a little dremeling/puttying/sanding was difficult but just saying

EDIT: actually #36 looks like it...

here it is! this is number 32 though. found it on majestic honda*pats self on back*

#328433 Yeah #36 is what I have in my hand. I'm still thinking I need #5. I have my old bumper in my garage, I'll have to look at it when I get home. I'm guessing it just snaps into the bumper :?

#328436 Correct. #5 holds the bumper plug onto the bumper. I just installed all if those pieces in my build thread. I asked the parts guy at Honda about them.

#328442 How is #5 attached to the bumper?
By rustyrex
#328443 Between those 2 holes there is a post on the back side. You have to press #5 onto the post.

#328445 Perfect, thanks :thumb:

#328446 Not a problem.

#329284 #5 is a fiddly little piece that is prone to terrible rust, and the little posts on the back of the bumper onto which #5 mounts are prone to breaking. All in all, not a great design by Honda. So, take home message here is to just be careful when you're working and maybe a little rustproofing would be helpful if before you reinstall.

I will also just add that I HAVE seen these little plugs on all-stock Civics in the junkyards, esp in areas that only ever had the one rear license plate. :thumb:
