$1500 plus i pay for paint bad price?

My buddy who is a local mechanic said he would paint my hatch on the side for $1500 and i pay for paint and there is a few dents and he needs to weld some new metal for some rust tears above rear fenders and a small spot on back but he would just be painting factory color for this price other color would cost more. i know a body shop would charge twice as much but for a buddy and on the side is this to much? cuz even for the small hatch paint would be $300ish no?

Cutting, welding and body work to fix dings and rust... I think thats a fair price if he does a good job on it. and Yeah.. even for a small hatch a body shop will charge double that or more.

Sounds good to me as long as he knows what he is doing and doesn't pull the I am really busy with other stuff right now I will finish it when I get a chance. Had the second one happen to me
