whats up guys!! i know u guys seen the new honda trend with the diamond racing steel rims and all. well i have a question, a guys around my way is selling some 13x7 steel rims with a 0 offset. i was wondering if it would be an brake clearance issue if i put it on my eg8 and would it be flush or it would stick out a whole lot or a little? and if you guys have a picture of a eg8 sedan or coupe with a 13x7 rims. oh another question what about a 13x8 with a -13 offset? let me know ur guys opinion.

it depends if your car can clead the brakes with 13" rims. Some models came with 13" wheels like cx, vx, dx, lx. EX and Si have slightly larger brakes I believe and I don't know if they would clear 13" wheels.

13x8 with -13mm offset will poke out probably at least an inch and look like a low rider.
13x7 with 0 offset will also poke but with such a small dia wheel you'll have a tall sidewall to stretch. They're still 13" though... I wouldn't want to go any smaller than 14"

ok my car is a dx so it came with the 13's...and right now im slammed on 15's, with a camber kit on the rear and no camber kit on the front. so my front tire's are like this / \ ....so the 13x7 with 0 offset and 4inch backspacing will be to much? and im planning on running some 215/50r13 tires...so yeah teal give me more info dude, since ur the wheel whore guru...hehe oh yeah heres a pic of the steel rim im talking about... it can be done but 13" is just so small to me. If that's what you're going for, then do it :thumb:
7" wide is not going to poke too bad. with them only being 13" rubbing issues won't be as bad as if they were 15 or 16"

FOr example the rear wheels on my car now are 7" wide +16 offset and the rims are perfectly flush with the rear fender lip. So yours will stick out 16mm further than mine which is = to 5/8" So you can pull that off with no problem.

ok...so even with the 4inch backspacing would not be a problem right? ill let you know when i put it on...i hope i wont have any brake clearance problem....ill hope ill be even lower...hehe

I just noticed the tire size you planned on running. You might want to compare that on a tire size calculator to your oem tire size cause I bet it is a lot smaller tire + speedometer will be off. Also 215/50r13 tires is going to be a very square tire (no stretch) like a lowrider car.

so can you tell me what tire size should i run? thats low profile. i dont want my sidewall to be tall...only tire size i could search is 215/50r13 i guess they dont make 215/55r13 or 225/50r13

that's the thing, if you want low profile you'll need to use a bigger diameter wheel.

low profile 50 series on a 13" wheel is going to give you a small tire diameter which will throw off your speedometer and not fill up the wheel well like a 50 series tire on a 15" wheel would.

That's why people usually run a 50 series on 15" and a 60 series on a 14" on our cars. The cars that came with 13" steelies ran a 175/70/R13.

So using the tire calculator: http://miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
You can compare different sizes to see what will give you the same overall diameter. But there's not many of those sizes available because people just don't use 13" wheels very often.

I'd stick with your 15" wheels.

I agree with teal, please keep the 15's.

Here is a crx with the same wheel size and offset. (the only honda i could find, 13x7, 0 offset).

I think the CRX kinda pulls it off, but that is 2 generations earlier than our cars. (every generation gets larger wheel wells and oem tire diameter.)

But as you can see, a stretched low profile tire won't be right on 13" for our cars. Maybe an old school mini cooper.

my car is on 13s but they are 195 75 13's i think what the crx has will be kinda cool on the eg, but only way to find out is to do it :thumb: [/img]

I agree that 13s arent always too small. But with little side walls and a 0 offset i think teal is very right in thinking it would look like a lowrider.

@ benji
I just dont like cars that look like that. I dont know how popular the name is but around here thats called a "skateboard car." Not looked highly upon. But people should do their own thing, as long as they do it right i cant complain.

In your case those spacers would prob just make them flush which looks very clean :thumb:
