The sound is coming from around my engine bay when I take off or come to a stop.its like a popping banging sound. It sounds like something in the suspension on the passengers side. I've replaced all the engine, transmission and torque mounts thinking that was it but it's still doing it. Any ideas?[/b]

CV shaft, more than likely. Check that before anything else.

What's the proper way to check the shaft ?

CV shafts most often throw grease everywhere before they go bad, but sometimes you have to pull them off and try articulating the ends by hand. They should rotate smoothly with little resistance.

I don't think it's likely to be the CV axle though. Put the front on jackstands and grasp each wheel at 12 and 6 and 9 and 3. There should be no wobble from 12 and 6 and the only movement at 9 and 3 should be the steering. You can differentiate steering movement from play by jerking it There should be no wobble outside of moving the steering.
