#348675 Hey folks just want some opinions. Im gonna be getting a new set up for my hatch. I should have about 600$ towards new suspension. I found a few set that are within the price. Godspeed, EMUSA (full money back guarantee), SPC, Street edge, Racing guys, true hart, speedy racer, yonaka. The function form type 1 and skunk 2 if I only want coilvers. Some of the other prices are a little less and alow me to get a few other things like new control arms and bushings, front ball joints and some other poly bushings that need replacing. I dont track or drag. I just cruse and its a dd. I just really want to upgrade from my stock shocks and cheap ass coils. Just want to know if any of these are sumwhat decent brands. I have had function form and they were very nice. just dont really wanna spend 650+ if others will give me what i want for a lesser price.

#348697 Good morning Guy,

Before choosing some off the shelf no name brand coilover that you are going to waste your money on. Research each brand .

They only one out of the choices you have put out there that I would consider is the TRUHART. AND i would send the seller a message, where is the top hat on the setup. If you take a look at the new coilovers from Truhart, they come with the top hat on there setup.
Also take a look at the ordering directly from Truhart on there website. May cost you a little more , but you'll have a warranty that what your buy is new and for your car.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. Ya i have been resurching them all. The ones i found good info on are the godspeeds. I found a load of info on people who use them for dd and for track and have used them for over 2 years. I personally love function form and have used them so I know they are good. Not sure why the truharts dont have top hats. every one on there does not come with them> im guessinf thats why they are much cheaper than off the real sight. As for the other no names Im very sceptical of how they perform and last. I have found zero reviews on them. Thank you for your input i really appreciate it. :thumb:

#348703 I would reach out to them and talk to one of the techs to find out what the lowering capabilities are , what the spring rate is, Are the shock replaceable, cost, ect.

#348704 If you're going to slam the car it doesn't matter what you buy. Just buy some cheap ebay crap or cut the coils.

Springs and shocks are irrelevant once they're bottomed out. There's no such thing as good handling or ride comfort once you get past ~ -2.75in drop.

#348705 already have cheap ebay coils and i would never cut springs. My function form had a very low drop with full travel from the setup. And I never do track. this is for my daily use and thats about it.

#348717 Have you looked into Raceland coilovers?
http://www.racelandus.com/coilovers/hon ... r-kit.html

They are priced a bit cheaper than F&F type 1's and they feel very similar to them. I am going to pick up a set for my coupe after It's painted.

Perfect for a DD. I know people who have ran these with great results on integra 4 doors, EK and even a wrx. The only negative reviews I have seen for Raceland's have been people who use them for drag/autox purposes. If you just want a decent coil-over set-up to daily I'd say to look into these.

Also if you don't like them within 30 days they have a satisfaction guarantee as well as a 2 year warranty.

If these don't suit you I would recommend the EMUSA one's. Heard nothing but good about those either..

#352434 my buddy just got Racelands for his Miata. they are actually very nice and they ride good. we had to modify the top spring perch thing that sits inside the tophat(when using stock tophats) but from everything i found online everybody does that. im not sure about civics but its a common thing with thee miatas.

if you are looking to slam the car then it doesnt really matter what you get just like Suspendedhatch said. but if you are looking for the most bang for your buck i think a full Energy Suspension bushing kit and a nice set of Eibach lowering springs would be a better handling setup for about the same money.

a fancy set of coilovers wont do a dam thing when paired with shot bushings

Good advice on the bushings :thumb:

We can spend all day discussing how bad slamming the car is for the majority of components in your vehicle. However if you want to slam your car do it with parts that are designed for that kind of abuse. Using coilovers designed like the racelands at an extreme drop will significantly shorten the lifespan of the shocks. The function and form design with an adjustable lower mount lets you keep suspension travel and adjust ride height but out of all of the ones designed that way (Megan, Godspeed, Ksport, D2, Skunk2, Tein, ... you get the idea) none of them will probably go as low as you are wanting without removing perches which defeats the whole purpose of these kinds of coilovers. So my advice is if you want the best of both worlds save up a couple hundred extra and look into BC Coilovers. They have the adjustable lower mount just like function and forms to control ride height without effecting shock travel or spring preload. They also offer an "Extreme Drop" option which comes with shorter shock bodies which will lower the car more and prevent bottoming them out when you are slammed. Also they allow you to opt for custom spring rates so you can get some stiff springs to keep the car from slamming into your tires on every reflector you go over. Good luck :thumb:

BC coils should run you around $900 shipped for the EG but if you shop around a bit some vendors will sell them cheaper. BC is pretty strict with the retail pricing and requires you to have the invoice from an authorized retailer for warranty. We ordered a fully custom set for my friends slammed Lexus SC300 and I was extremely impressed with everything about them. I've owned Buddy Club coilovers, K sport, Airtekk Air, D2, and Skunk2 coilovers and for the price the BCs are at the top of my list for quality and customer service for what you want to do. (FYI BC Coilovers are not the same as Buddy Club don't mix them up lol)

Also TruHart makes a quality product. I can't say anything about their coilovers but their camber kits and toe kits are a quality product. I just installed everything they offer in an EM1 other than coilovers and their camber kit for my friends airred out TL. From how well their other components are made I would venture to say they are a safe bet.
