#246707 Hey guys, my ex sedan has recently developed a popping sound most noticeable when I get on the brakes at all. It does it a lot, I damn near have to coast to a stop to get it to not "pop." I'm hearing it a little when I hit bumps too, as well as it is more pronounced when I have the steering wheel turned to the right. Any ideas? I'm thinking it my be tie rod end(s) or ball joints. Thanks in advance :thumb:

#246719 to be sure it is not tie rod or ball joints: With the car on jack stands, grab the left and right sides of the tire and wiggle it as if you were trying to shimmy it off of the hub. If there's play, then you need to replace the inner and/or outer tie rod. (play from top to bottom is usually a ball joint - check upper and lower control arms.

If it were the axle, I would think it should also happen when accelerating from a stop if it is happening when braking.

I had a civic once w/ a failing axle that did it from a stop, it was a click/light pop sound.
