Coilovers are the only way to go. Don't cut them you'll hate the ride.

I've been on the site for a little bit.. :-P I 'did' have a white hatch when I joined and a purple RHD hatch(that I never finished). Now, I drive an XB and just come on to bug people.

But yeah... the coilover question, it will all depend on what your using your hatch for. Strictly DD? DD and Some track/road racing? I'm a big fan of Buddy club... everyone has their on opinion and specifications needed though.
Either way, Coilovers are just better because you see if you had got them instead of springs you wouldnt be having this dilemna of not being low enough. You can just adjust it rather than selling and buying diff. springs.

You know there is such a ting as struts with an adjustable spring perch. Tokico Illumina or Koni Yellows. They will allow you to adjust ride height and dampening. Eibac sport lines are way to stiff for stk or Tokico Blue struts.

You do not want to cut them. It will kill your ride, and not handle as good as a proper set up.
